Forgot your Login ID?

If you forgot your Login ID, a reminder email can be sent to you. You must have a valid email already established in your online banking profile to use this service. To request your Login ID, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Forgot Login ID? link from the secure login page
  2. Provide the information requested to authenticate your identity on the 
    Forgot Login ID page
  3. You will receive a secure email with a Login ID reminder

Forgot your password?

If you forgot your password, you may have a new temporary password sent to your email address. You must have a valid email address already established in your online banking profile to use this service. To request a temporary password: 

  1. Click the Forgot password link on the Online Banking Confirm Authentication
    Credentials and Enter password page
  2. Answer your challenge question
  3. You will receive a secure email with a temporary password
  4. You will be required to change your temporary password after logging in to
    Online Banking

How do I change my Login ID or password?

To change your Login ID or password, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Online Banking.
  2. Click Preferences on the Home tab
  3. Click Change Login ID or Change Password

Why am I logged off sometimes, or my session expires and I have to log in again?

To prevent unauthorized use of your accounts and prevent others from viewing your information, TCF automatically logs you off of your Online Banking session after a period of inactivity.

FREE for all consumer checking accounts

TCF Online Banking for Business
FREE for any TCF business checking or savings account.

TCF Preferred Online Business Banking
You are automatically enrolled for FREE if you have one of these accounts.

The monthly online access fee is $2.95 for all other account types.

TCF Premier Online Business Banking
FREE for TCF Premier Business Checking accounts. This is the only type of account eligible for this Online Banking service.

TCF Online Business Banking Plus for commercial accounts
The monthly online access fee is $4.95.

What are the requirements for enrolling in TCF Online Banking?

You need the following to enroll in Online Banking:

An existing account at TCF Bank with a PIN. If you are not an existing customer, open an account online or at any TCF location. 

Internet access, including a personal email address.

An Internet browser, mobile device, or tablet that supports secure communications. Online Banking is always viewed best with the most recent generally available release of the following browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer®, Chrome™, Safari®, and Firefox®. Other browsers may work but the display and printing of pages may not be ideal.

What if I am not eligible for a Social Security number (SSN)?

You do not need a SSN or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to enroll in Online Banking. You may provide your date of birth instead when enrolling in online banking. If you are not eligible for a SSN, you can file with the IRS for an ITIN. The forms for obtaining an ITIN are available online at www.irs.gov.

How long after I apply can I start using TCF Online Banking?

You can begin using Online Banking as soon as your online enrollment is complete. Enrolling is easy and only takes less than two minutes to complete!

How long is my account activity available?

The service will accumulate and store up to 180 days of activity. If you sign up for online statements, they are available up to 18 months.

Can I transfer funds between my accounts?

Yes, you can transfer funds from any qualifying TCF account(s) you are an owner on to any other qualifying account(s) at TCF (even if you are not an owner). For example, you can transfer funds from your TCF account to your child's account at TCF.

How do I sign up for TCF Online Bill Payment?

To pay your bills online, you must first enroll in TCF Online Banking. To add Online Bill Payment to your existing TCF Online Banking service:

  • Log in to Online Banking.
  • Click Bill Payment tab.
  • Click Enroll.

How do I sign up for TCF Online Statements?

To view your monthly statements online, you must first enroll in TCF Online Banking. To add Online Statements to your existing TCF Online Banking service:

  • Log in to Online Banking.
  • Click on the Manage Delivery Options link underneath Statements on the Accounts tab.
  • View the sample statement and accept the agreement.
  • Choose which accounts you want to receive Online Statements by selecting the Delivery Method desired from the drop down list.

Can I view my cleared checks and deposit slips online?

Yes, you can now view the front and back of all checks cleared on your account, and deposit slips, for free. To view your check images, follow these easy steps:

  • Log in to Online Banking.
  • Go to your Account Register by clicking on Activity under the Accounts tab.
  • Select an account from the drop down list.
  • Click the View Image link next to the transaction you would like to view.

How does paying bills online work?

Using TCF Online Bill Pay is a total bill management solution.  It allows you to receive, manage, and pay all of your bills online directly through your bank account.  A majority of payees are paid electronically right out of your account automatically based on the schedule you set, or as a one-time payment if you prefer.  If TCF does not have an electronic payment relationship with a payee, we will mail a check directly to the payee for you.  The total bill management solution also allows you to manage all your billing statements from one place online.  It acts as your bill payment mailbox.  You no longer have to receive paper bills and send out checks in the mail.  With total bill management eBilling, bills come electronically and they are paid based on the instructions you have set up, or you are reminded that a bill is due.  It is that simple!

What bills can I pay online?

You can pay almost anyone you receive a billing statement or invoice from for anywhere in the United States excluding government entities and court-ordered payments.  We have information on most payees so all you need is your account number.  If we do not have the information on the payee you are trying to make a payment for, just setup the payee once by entering their billing address for your account and your account number.

How do I get started paying bills?

To pay bills online, you must first be enrolled in Online Banking.  To enroll in Online Banking click here. Once you are enrolled in Online Banking, log in to your account.  After logging in, click on the Bill Payment tab and verify your account details to enroll for Bill Payment and assign your funding account.

Do you guarantee the payment will arrive on time?

Payment timing can vary by payee, and delivery dates are based on the way payments are delivered to payees.  If your payee has electronic payment capability, it will take about two days for your payee to receive your payment.  If we have to send a check, it could take up to four days for your payee to receive your payment.  Payee lead times, the amount of time your payee requires to process a payment, may also vary.  TCF’s total bill management solution includes a Smart Calendar, which can help you determine when you should schedule a payment based on the payee’s delivery method and their lead times.  When making your payments, just select the appropriate Due Date, and the calendar will automatically display available Due Dates for that payee.  The earliest available Due Date for payees may vary based on delivery method and payee processing times. Please note that payee posting and cut-off times vary.  Please check with your payee for exact details on how payments are credited to your account.

Can I set up reminders for bills that need to be paid?

Yes.  You can set up your own reminders for any bills that need to be paid.  We will automatically display the amount and the number of days remaining until a payment is due right in your payee list.

What is an eBill?

An eBill is an electronic version of your paper bill that you can receive directly into TCF Online Bill Pay, which you can then view and pay immediately.  eBills are available for many payees and you can set up eBills only for the payees you choose.  Once you have an eBill set up for a payee and start receiving it, you may choose to have your payee stop sending you a paper bill as you will receive it in TCF Online Bill Payment.  It typically takes 1-2 billing cycles for you to begin receiving your bill online.

Do I need extra software or hardware to use TCF Online Banking?

No extra software is necessary. You can access your TCF accounts from any PC, mobile device, or tablet that has Internet access.

Does the service work with my existing Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

Yes, TCF Online Banking will work with any ISP.

What type of accounts can I access with TCF Online Banking?

Once you have enrolled, you can access any deposit account and mortgage loan account you own.

Can I access accounts from both home and work?

Yes, you can access your accounts from any PC with Internet access and an Internet browser that supports secure communications. You should confirm that you are not violating any workplace policies if you access your account from work and that the system is private (not shared).
